Greg Thompson, CFP®, CKA ® President & Wealth Advisor

As the Founder and President of Stone Oak Wealth Management, Greg brings over 17 years of experience managing wealth for affluent individuals, high net worth families, small to mid-sized companies, trusts, family limited partnerships, donor advised funds, corporate retirement programs, endowments and foundations.

Mr. Thompson was drafted out of high school by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 12th round of the 1994 MLB Amateur Draft and played professional baseball for more than 4 years until his career was limited by injury. He then graduated with Summa Cum Laude Honors from West Texas A&M University, where he received his BBA in Finance with an emphasis in Accounting from the T. Boone Pickens College of Business.

Mr. Thompson started his financial career with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management and after several years moved on to help build a new Wealth Management Firm which later formed an Independent Broker/Dealer. After a successful 8 years, Greg started his own Wealth Management Practice to develop his business with more autonomy and independence. That continuous desire to provide his clients with the greatest access to various investment strategies and the unbiased, independent relationship, Mr. Thompson is proud to be the Founder & President of Stone Oak Wealth Management.

In addition, Mr. Thompson is heavily involved in the community. He has served as President of the Board of Chrysalis Ministries (formerly Bexar County Detention Ministries) Endowment, Treasurer of Christian Outdoor Alliance, Advisory Board Member for the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and Chairman of the San Antonio Christian School Foundation. He is a past Vice President and former Board Member of Alamo Heights Rotary Club and Home Owners Association President. He and his wife, Ginger, have led adult as well as pre-teen Bible studies for their Church and have served as a mentor for several years. He is involved in many other organizations, including, Bible Study Fellowship, The Mays YMCA, Stone Oak Athletics and McAllister Park Little League, where Greg has coached baseball, basketball and football.

He is a lifelong outdoor enthusiast. Growing up in the great states of Texas & New Mexico, he has always had a great love for the outdoors. His interests include; Ministry, Baseball, Football, Basketball, Bow Hunting, Fishing, Camping & Snow Boarding. Mr. Thompson lives in San Antonio with his wife, Ginger and their two sons, Cooper & Jett. Their family belongs to Cross Bridge Community Church.
